Amazing!Rated:![]() by Stefanie Delbrueck from United States Written 7 months ago | Our group of six was simply amazed by the fresh fish, attentive service and gorgeous sunset. There is nothing like having your feet in the sand while you dine on delicious food. |
Slow, Inattentive ServiceRated:![]() by Michael Riddle from USA Written 7 months ago | We recently returned to La Palapa in March and were appalled by the lack of service.
It was so bad that I can't comment on the food because after being seated for 45 minutes all we'd been offered was water. We left to have dinner elsewhere. We were very, very, disappointed. |
Very Good!Rated:![]() by Bilabo from Mex Written 8 months ago | Nice Margueritas dinks!

La Palapa needs helpby Dan from MexicoWritten 1 year ago | For many years, this had been one of our favorite restaurants in PV. The views, the food, the service were all outstanding. But over the past few years, La Palapa has rested on its laurels, and has become just another overpriced tourist spot with declining service and mediocre food. While the ambiance remains nearly unbeatable simply by the fact that the restaurant is literally on the beach, the food has become uncreative. The wait staff likewise has become unattentive and lazy.
During our most recent experience there, we were seated and forgotten. For 15 minutes, no one came to our table. Only after we asked a server from another table if we could get some service, someone finally came. But it was a slow and tedious process throughout the evening that included us actually getting up and getting our own menu and waiting and waiting and waiting. First for the salads. Then waiting and waiting and waiting again for the main course. When, after asking where our dinner was, it finally arrived. It was cold and looked like it had been thrown onto the plate. If you're visiting PV, you might want to go there just for the ambiance. If you live in PV, like us, you likely already know there are too many other fine restaurants to go to where service and quality of food still matter. |

Overpriced food, great atmosphereRated:![]() by Angela from United States Written 1 year ago | This really is a nice place to dine, but the food is overpriced for what you get, as many other reviewers have observed. Don't go here if you're in a hurry, because the service is slow, slow, slow. But what the place lacks in gracious service and fair prices it makes up for in location. It's right on the beach, so you can watch the sunset. You just have to make sure you feel that being gouged on the price is worth it. Personally, I don't! |
Beautiful Location but service needs improvementby Rod F from USAWritten 2 years ago | Recently visited for my birthday. The restaurant was very busy and the staff seemed to have trouble coping. A couple of small problems. They served me soup from a beautiful caldron, but forgot to bring me a soup spoon. They brought my girlfriend and I both, another tables entries. The location and view are superb. The food was good, but the service needs to improve. Heard the table next to us ask the waiter for the bill and then privately remarked "wonder how long that will take". But loved the jazz trio playing in the bar. |
Great Beach Front LocationRated:![]() by TJKSwift from United States Written 2 years ago | We had lunch here one day and the food was good, not great or anything. The location and atmosphere is very nice. |
Great Location and Good FoodRated:![]() by Ira Gross (8 comments) ![]() from US Written 2 years ago | I love this beach front restaurant. Not really a beach front restaurant but an on the beach restaurant. The service is good but the this place is all about the location. There is even table service on the beach. I had breakfast here 2 times this trip and liked it. The crepes are great and the french toast was good. My partner loved the breakfast quesadilla he ordered it 2 times. |
Great Atmosphere, Overpriced Mediocre FoodRated:![]() by james Written 2 years ago | We dined at La Palapa our 2nd night. It was such a romantic spot with a great acoustical guitar player in the bar. We should have stayed in the bar. The food was average. I ordered the Filet Mignon. It was the tinyest and blandest filet I've ever seen - perched precariously on top of a equally tiny portion of mashed potatoes, smothered with something that tasted remarkably like Swanson's beef gravy. My girlfriend had the prawns - the four prawns were presented beautifully on the plate and were tasty but I think the camarones from the beach vendors were better an 1/10 the price. They also asked us if we wanted soup or salad. We both ordered salad. I guess I should have noticed that it was al a carte but at the price I paid for the entree I assumed it was included. I've eaten at many fine restaurants and I don't mind paying for the privelege but I don't like to get hosed. Substandard food in a wonderful atmosphere. Next time I will stay in the bar for a Spanish Coffee which was quite a show. |
