Where to Celebrate Mexican Independence

It is amost time for all Mexicans to celebrate another anniversary of glorious independence. Although there is still much to be attained as a sovereign nation, this movement won important freedoms, such as having healthy fun. To celebrate these achievements that set the first precedent that Mexico might one day govern without foreign intervention, Bay Vallarta offers a few suggestions for hot spots that have prepared for a special night for "El Grito." (The cry of "Viva Mexico!")

This avant-garde cuisine restaurant is located along the coastal fringe of the beautiful beaches of Punta de Mita. Throughout the month of September it will be celebrating with a Mexican menu, 5 courses for only $570 pesos. In addition, each Friday of the month they will hold their "Festival Mexicano" in which you can enjoy live mariachi music from 8:00pm to 10:00pm (Jalisco time) and folk ballet dances.

In this Mexican haute cuisine restaurant, they are preparing a three course patriots menu including a huitlacoche Aztec soup, chicken breast stuffed with spinach with a poblano chili sauce, goat cheese and squash blossoms as the main course and chocolate dessert truffles with red fruit compote and cinnamon ice cream. Also, in a joint promotion with the Vinoteca company, the night of El Grito, all bottles of Mexican wine will have a 10% discount.

At all locations of the Mariscos Tino's Restaurants (Downtown/Centro, Nuevo Vallarta and Punta de Mita) have a Patriot's menu throughout the month of September. As an entre you can choose from Aztec soup or salad with sweet and sour shrimp, the main course beef fillet mignon can be sliced poblanas with three chili sauce or Tiki Xich fish over grilled tomato; the choices for dessert are creamy baked pears or rice pudding with vanilla ice cream together with raisins and strawberries.

Located half a block from the Puerto Vallarta City Hall, this traditional Mexican food restaurant has an extensive menu with typical dishes of our country and our own creations, like the delicious chipotle chilaquiles. On the walls dominated by bright colors, the decor is an interesting mix of masks, saddles, agave cores, Catrina statues, etc. To celebrate our independence, there will be a bar, Mexican snacks, live music, raffles, open bar for some drinks and tequila promotions.
