This coming October 8, Dr. José María Muriá will present a conference to the Vallarta community entitled "Mexico and the Spanish Republicans, as she previously presented in Barcelona. She tells of the time, circumstances and people of the period when Mexico received Spanish political exiles during the dictatorship of General Franco.
Muriá, along with other Catalan researchers, has been dedicated to studying this piece of history of great significance to both Spain and Mexico. For the Spanish, this was the opportunity to find asylum in a generous country, while for Mexicans, this was the opportunity to welcome an incredible group of Spain's elite intelligentsia.
It will be a Muriá-style conference, full of anecdotes, excerpts and circumstances. It is a joint conference in a study told with passion, with admiration, and with great knowledge of the facts.
The conference begins at 8:15pm at the Cultural Mezzanine of La Leche Restaurant. The event is completely free and a tequila of honor will be served to close.
