Since opening its doors, this restaurant caught our attention because we had heard good many things. This is actually a franchise, which normally discourages me because businesses that follow this model often only meet the standards set by the mark and do not give that extra added value that makes a real difference. However, La Terraza de la Abuela has a very accommodating service and excellent quality in meals at an affordable price.
The car was safely parked in places they have reserved for that purpose. The night we went was very warm so we chose a table directly under a fan and we prepared to see the menu that offered many Mexican dishes and snacks for all tastes.
They also have a wide range of beverages in their well-stocked bar and offer wines from various regions of Mexico and the world at very reasonable prices. Their menu basically consists of snacks, salads, soups, appetizers, entrees and desserts.
We started by ordering imported 10-year-old rum and coke for $49 pesos. While at the table we were served tostadas with house salsas. One way in which I rate a Mexican restaurant is for its salsas and this time they were very appealing and tasted really home-made, and stung just enough to be tasty and accompany the meal.
For dinner she ordered the Revolcadas del Tio Louis, which is four beef tacos with green pepper, onion and grilled cheese accompanied by beans and grilled green onions for only $59 pesos. The meat was tender and tasty; a seemingly simple dish though tasty and well prepared.
For my part I ordered the Enchiladas Verdes del Tia Julia which can be made with cheese, but in my case, I asked for chicken, also $59 pesos. The salsa that accompanied my enchiladas had a very pleasant seasoning, nothing sour as when not well prepared.
The staff was always awaiting our needs with care. To end the night and seeing how comfortable the room temperature, I ordered Irish coffee ice cream $42 pesos. I've never tasted it this way but it was very refreshing, plus it was served with premium quality Scotch.
La Terraza de la Abuela pleased us both very much and we were invited to return for their good quality, care and price, in addition to their calm and relaxing ambience.
