Ujena Jam Puerto Vallarta International 2009

This year's competition, beginning August 29, marks a celebration of twenty five years of bringing Ujena swimwear, modeling, and photo contests to Puerto Vallarta. And, like every year, the activities are not limited to matters of fashion. There are also several sporting events, festivals and more. This is a full week of activities among the naturally beautiful scenery surrounding Puerto Vallarta serving as a backdrop for dozens of beautiful women, all striking their best poses in front of the lenses.

Fashion Photography

The main objective of this competition is to test the skills of the photographer and the models.. In addition to the judging by sponsors, their efforts will also be judged by associate companies and guests are invited to observe the performances on August 23. The best images will be selected to be analyzed by the judges, who will choose the winners of the prizes, recognitions, scholarships and contracts.

The company that makes these beautiful bikinis and their more than forty partner sponsors will be awarding great prizes from cash, trips, scholarships, contracts and other gifts. The winners of the trials, held during the week-long event, will be the lucky ones who will share in the generous booty. The awards for best photo will be awarded on September 6 at the NH Krystal Hotel with as part of a fashion show event.

Talent Search

As an incentive for competitors, there is the opportunity to be seen by agents from a company interested in contracting their services. During the course of the week, there will be several opportunities for this, whether with UJENA or one of their more than forty associates.

Ujena Jam Expo

This is the venue where the models and photographers will schedule their sessions, but also for UJENA and their associate sponsors to hold casting calls and to highlight their products or services. From September 2 to 4, the companies will take advantage of this opportunity to view portfolios and interview participants to find talent for their magazines or catalogues. Additionally, the make-up competition and workshops will take place during this event, including modeling shows that will run throughout the three-day scheduled event.

Lifestyle

In addition to physical beauty and talent in front and behind the cameras, UJENA BIKINI JAM will be judging participants for performance and physical skills in assorted activities and sporting events. Even independent performances in the event will be evaluated to designate the winners in some challenges.

5k Race

For over five years, the five-kilometer race, to be held September 3, has been part of the UJENA events. All models and photographers competing for the most important prizes will be obligated to participate, since health conditioning will also be considered in choosing the winners. This competition is open to the public, in order to get the community of Vallarta involved and to rub elbows with the BIKINI JAM participants. Participation requires a registration fee. Immediately following the event, an acrobatics competition will be held.

Golf Tournamet

The fourth edition of this event will take place on "Vista Vallarta" golf course which can be reached via the road to Las Mojoneras. The participating models are responsible for adorning the path of the competitors, who must pay a registration fee to play eighteen holes. With great prizes for the winning team, the tournament will begin on August 30at 9:00am.

Fishing Tournament

Prizes will be awarded for the largest of the following fish species: marlin, tuna and Mahi Mahi. The boats depart on September 3 and 4, accompanied by photographers and models who seek to be selected by the fishermen to win the scholarship awarded for best photo. Registration is for teams of up to four people.

Swimming

There will be two freestyle swimming races: fifty and one hundred meters, at the headquarters hotel pool on September 6 in the morning. This event is open only for participants of Ujena Bikini JAM, either men or women. Participants will compete in the 5-kilometer run and the swimming competition will have a chance to win a special health prize to be awarded along with the other prizes.

Makeup Competition

This is a great way for make-up artists to gain renown and enhance their portfolio. Ujena will provide a studio in the "Expo" for all models to register the before and after photos. Make up contestants must submit pictures of various models to be judged and selected as finalists. These finalist will accompany the top models and photographers to one of the locations to work with the team, and be responsible for the makeup during the awards ceremony.

Workshops

Nine one-hour informational workshops will be held for those interested in learning or refining their knowledge and skills related to the fashion industry. Among the confirmed speakers are: photographer Keith McNulty, the head of stylists Catherine Cross and staff model Trisha Tompkins. August 30 and 31 and September 1, there will be three workshops per day, starting at 10:00am. The nine workshops include:

2. Makeup and location style for print
3. Working with light
4. Bikini modeling and posing
5. Editing and image selection for print
6. On location photography
7. Editorial style photography
8. Making the most of UJENA BIKINI JAM
9. Artistic photography

Theme Party

The models will be showing off the new 2010 Ujena product line in various clubs throughout during this weeklong event: Sunday, August 30 will be their "Party by the Sea", at club Punto V starting at 3:00pm then they will march along the Malecon; August 31 there will be fun at The Jungle at Paradise Plaza, on September 3 and 4 at Glam, then again at Punto V with a party called "Party Clubkini " where this year's Maxim girl will be selected; September 5 will see the girls in traditional fiesta costumes at Mandala with a prize of $10,000 pesos in cash for the most original. The big 25th anniversary celebration will be held on September 6 at the Sky Bar in Mandala, where the female staff will hit the catwalk, pop singers and a big cake. Festivities will begin at 10:00pm almost every night.
