One Year from the Bicentennial Celebration

| Puerto Vallarta is prepared for the call that reminds us that 199 years ago War of Independence began with this call to arms. Therefore, the municipal government has prepared a series of cultural events not to be missed. Everything will start on Sunday, September 6 when one of the listed candidates is crowned the Queen of the Patriotic Celebrations 2009; an event with great tradition in Puerto Vallarta that will begin at 7:00pm in the main plaza next to City Hall. They will do so on the 12th in Las Palmas at 9:00pm and in Ixtapa at 11:30pm, while the next day will turn to the queens of Las Juntas, at 9:00pm, and El Pitillal, at 11:00pm. September 14 marks National Charrería Day. The Union of Associations of Charros of will lead off the parade in Puerto Vallarta at 11:00am at Plaza Lázaro Cárdenas, touring some downtown streets to arrive in El Pitillal at 1:00pm where they will tour the main streets. On September 15, starting at 6:15pm on the Malecon, the traditional games will begin with a server's race, a greased pole competition, and continue with the Great Mexican Night, which will present the Queen of the National Celebrations along with her court, then the Festival of Ranchera Songs followed by the Xiutla Ballet Folklorico. At 10:45pm, the preparations for the traditional cry of independence will begin, ending with fireworks and folk dancing.On September 16 there will be a traditional civil-military parade on the main streets of downtown Puerto Vallarta at 10:00am. At 7:00pm do not miss the Mexican Fiesta on the Malecon. |
