With its close proximity to Puerto Vallarta, and the international airport, this Nayarit municipality is becoming increasingly attractive to tourists who wish to visit this region of the country, thanks to great urban planning, designed to conserve the natural landscape. Now a key sector of the newly christened Riviera Nayarit, Nuevo Vallarta (view map) has much to offer.


Restaurants

In Nuevo Vallarta you will find a variety of restaurants with International cuisine, steak cuts, Italian cuisine and sea food. La Porteña. This restaurant and bar offers all the fine steak cuts usually served on an Argentine barbeque, such as rib eye and prime rib, with the great taste only found in wood cooking. All their meat is Angus imported from the United States. If you would like to sample a little of everything, ask for the two person grill for $355 pesos, which includes sweetbreads, sausage and the classic empanadas. La Laguna Tino’s. They became known for their zarandeado grilled fish 19 years ago at their main restaurant in El Pitillal. This location has a beautiful view of the lagoon, the source of its name. A variety of seafood has become synonymous with this chain; one of the house specialties being Conchas Tino’s for $150 pesos. 8 Tostadas. The name synonymous with quality, this location located a few steps from the Sea Garden Hotel is the only one offering hot dishes, such as shrimp stuffed with ham, bacon, and cheese and served with tartar sauce ($195 pesos). Of course, your can’t miss their traditional ceviche tostadas for $10 pesos, or their whole red snapper for $120 pesos. In addition, they offer scallops, fresh tuna and their aguachile sauce for those who like it spicy. Located in Morelos 20, Náutico Turístico, open from Monday to Sunday, 11:00am to 6:00pm, tel. Guido’s. This is one of the few restaurants offering authentic traditional Italian food. The owner, who named the restaurant after himself, is also the chef and sings in Spanish, English and Italian for his customers. There is great consistency in the food as well as the service. The menu includes soups, salads, fish, seafood, meats, chicken, pizzas and pastas. Their specialties cost $165 to $365 pesos. Nuevo Vallarta aslo has one of the best beaches of the Bay, luxury hotels and exclusive condos, restaurants, the Marina, the "El Tigre" Golf Course, tours agencies and a mall.

Vallarta Adventures. This is the leader in recreational Eco-tours geared toward the fascinating natural environment of the Mexican Pacific region. Among their main attractions are their trips to the beaches of Yelapa, Majahuitas and Caletas, which are located in the southern part of the bay, and their canopy tour on zip lines 27 meters above the ground. They also offer open sea scuba diving, snorkeling, and swimming with the dolphins.

Paradise Plaza. This mall, housing more than one hundred stores under one roof, offers air conditioning, escalators, a panoramic elevator, and an ample underground parking lot to all customers. Inside the mall, you can find a bank, ATM machine, currency exchange booth, grocery store, pharmacy, restaurants, boutiques, jewelry shops, crafts, smoke shop, cyber cafes, video games, photo studio, Laundromat, beauty salon, notary public and kiosks for tourist information.
