3rd Annual International Marlin and Tuna Tournament - Riviera Nayarit

The International Marlin and Tuna Tournament - Riviera Nayarit is establishing a tradition; celebrating its third year this August 13, 14, and 15 at the new marina in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, where you can enjoy the natural bounty and the hospitality of its residents. There will be 4 categories this year: marlin, tuna, sailfish and mahi mahi. Whoever manages to break the records for the largest fish will also be rewarded.Everything will begin on August 13 with registration for the participants, which starts at 5:00pm at the Convention Center at Hotel Marival Resort & Suites in Nuevo Vallarta. Each team will consist of a maximum of 4 members, among whom one must be named as captain. At 10:00pm, there will be a meeting of the participating team captains. The opening ceremony and the flag drop to signal GO FISHING will be August 14, at 7:00am at the marina of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. The return time that day is scheduled between 3:00pm and 6:00pm, receiving the fish at the marina pier.  Activities will begin very early August 15, because when the clock strikes 12:00am (midnight), fishing will get underway, then begin receiving the various catches between 3:00pm and 6:00pm, immediately proceeding to the weighing of the specimens captured.With the goal of protecting the fish species for a sustainable competition, the regulations specify that only; qualified marlin caught with a weight greater than 100kg;, tuna over 30kg; and mahi mahi over 10kg may be kept. Any of these fish underweight as well as ALL Sailfish will be Catch & Release. $100 thousand pesos will be awarded to the first marlin to break the tournament record weight of 322,300 kg. Another prize will be awarded for the first tuna to break the record for that class (176 kg). The prizes for the category of mahi mahi is $5,000 USD for first place, $20,000 pesos for the second and $10,000 pesos for third, in addition to certificates and other prizes. First place fisher in the Marlin category will bring home $20,000 USD, second place, a car, and third place, a 4-stroke outboard engine, among other prizes. In the sailfish category, the winning team will be awarded a car, the second $30,000 pesos and the third, a 2-day fishing package in Riviera Nayarit, in addition to certificates and other prizes for the category. And finally in the tuna category: first place will win a car, second $60,000 pesos and third $30,000 pesos, in addition to other prizes. 3er.
